McCormick Scientific Leica Paraplast Embedding Media:
- For use as tissue embedding media.
Paraplast:
- Made of paraffin and plastic polymers, allows clean cuts and minimizes wrinkles for clear, smooth tissue specimens.
- Compatible with most solvents and staining techniques.
- Melting point: 56°C (133°F) (ASTM).
Paraplast Plus:
- Is similar to 15159-409 except for the addition of dimethyl sulphoxide (DMSO), which improves rate of tissue infiltration, making it easier to cut difficult or brittle tissues. Melting point is 56°C (133°F) (ASTM).
- Made from a unique blend of low molecular weight polymers and paraffin,
Paraplast X-tra:
- Has a lower infiltration temperature that eliminates tissue “cooking,” which can cause distortion.
- Lower viscosity permits complete infiltration, and gives exceptional ribbon continuity with flat sections free of compression distortions.
- Melting point: 50 to 54°C (122 to 129°F) (ASTM).
