Description
The PerFix plug has a tapered shape that eases its insertion into the hernia defect.
Also, general anaesthesia is not required, the peritoneal cavity is not entered, and there is no postoperative ileus or nausea.
Patients have less pain
Clinical experience indicates that 75% of patients need nothing stronger than non-prescription medicine post surgery.
Patients are able to leave the hospital shortly after surgery, and are encouraged to resume normal activities the next day.
Virtually eliminates recurrence
At the Hernia Centre in Freehold, NJ, 2 733 mesh-plug hernioplasty werecompleted between 1989 and 1995.
Of those, 85% were primary and 15% were recurrent.
Six years of patient follow-up revealed a recurrence rate in primary repairs of less than 1%.
